Here's what we were working with - a plain concrete slab, no defined space, no seating, nothing that made you actually want to spend time out there. The kind of backyard that gets ignored all summer. That's exactly the problem we set out to fix.

We pulled the old slab and laid a full paver patio using a mixed gray tone that pairs well with the home's exterior. The paver pattern runs in a staggered layout with a contrasting border band that frames the whole surface cleanly. It's one of those details that separates a well-built patio from a basic one - the border gives the space structure and a finished edge that ties everything together.

The sitting walls were built right into the patio layout, not added as an afterthought. They create natural zones for seating without needing extra furniture to fill the space. The dark capped tops contrast nicely against the wall block and give each wall a polished, intentional look. Pair that with the pergola overhead and you've got a covered lounge area that works for a quiet evening or a full backyard cookout.

What we like about this one is how much function got packed into the space. There's room for a dining set, a lounge area, a grill, and still plenty of open patio. The sitting walls pull double duty - they define the boundary of the patio and give guests somewhere to sit. The pergola adds shade and structure without closing the space off. Everything has a reason for being there.

If your backyard has been sitting unused because there's nothing to pull you out there, a paver patio with built-in seating and a pergola is one of the most practical upgrades you can make. We work with homeowners across Apple Valley to design and build outdoor spaces that actually get used.
